I bought a variety pack of essential oils for a project and of course had to look up other ways to use them! One of the projects I found that I thought was intriguing was DIY Toilet Bombs from Herbs and Oil Remedies. The recipe claims to deodorize your toilet and kill bacteria.

Materials

• 1 1/3 cup Baking Soda
• 1/2 cup Citric Acid (I buy mine at a home brew store)
• 90 drops Essential Oil*
• Mold (I used an old ice cube tray)
• 1-2 drops Food Coloring (optional)

Mix together baking soda and citric acid. In small bowl, mix essential oil and food coloring (if using), mix into dry ingredients and pack into molds. Let dry and store in air tight container.

The results? They look great in the container, fizz nicely when you drop them in the toilet and smell great! In my mind they would also clean the toilet too, but that was wishful thinking and expecting too much. I like the way they look on my restroom sink, especially with the Toilet Spray.

*You’ll notice from the photo my variety pack of essential oils was an insanely cheap set from Asia. I wouldn’t use this in any products touching your skin, but since I was going to be flushing it down the toilet, I didn’t mind using them for this project.
