It’s no secret that sometimes when you use the toilet the smell can be…unpleasant. This can be especially uncomfortable if you have guests, are not at your own home or are sharing a hotel room with someone else.
I’ve seen some sprays that claim to solve this problem, but at $8-$15 for a bottle of something you are literally going to relieve yourself on…I just couldn’t say yes.
I found this knock off recipe at Happy Money Saver and thought I’d give it a try. The ingredients are simple and things you probably already own.
Materials
- Spray bottle (I found mine in a travel kit at the dollar store)
- 1 tsp rubbing alcohol
- 30-40 drops essential oils (I combined lime and coconut)
- Water
- 1-2 drops food coloring (optional)
Mix rubbing alcohol and essential oil together, then fill bottle with water. If using food coloring, add and shake.
The results? Questionable. It kinda works, but you need to use a lot more than I would have imagined. Just make sure you hold the bottle VERY close to the water, or you will end up with the mixture on the toilet seat (and your tush!). I added the food coloring since I had a clear bottle, so it does look pretty in the bathroom, especially next to my matching Toilet Bombs.
Have you tried any sprays like this? Did you have success?
