I often find my apothecary jars overflowing with corks, and after I made my Wine Cork Angel Ornaments, I decided to make a new cork ornament each year. The next ornament on the list was the Wine Cork Mouse Ornament – which is incredibly cute! This particular craft was a little more involved and required a few more materials, so I only made a few.

  • Wine Corks
  • Cork Roll
  • Glitter Wire
  • Black Puff Paint
  • Felt or Fabric
  • Metal Hook Eye
  • Ribbon or Twine
  • Wire Cutters
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue

First, start by cutting the wire for the arms, legs and tail. I made the arms and legs about the same length (roughly 1.5 inches), and made the tail about 3 inches so I could curl it.

Next, use a needle to poke holes in the cork where you want to insert the wire. This makes the process a little easier and the wire sturdier. I put a dab of glue on the wire and pushed it into the holes. For the arms and legs, tightly curl the end of the wire to form hands and feet. For the tail, loosely curl the wire.

Next, cut out two circles for the mouse ears from the cork roll. You will need to cut small squares into these circle so they sit flush on top of the cork. Use the hot glue to attach the ears to the head.

To make the scarf, cut your felt or fabric into small strips and tie them around the cork mice.

Make the face with the puff paint. I added two eyes and a nose to each mouse.

To finish the ornament, push the hook eye into the top of the cork and add a ribbon or twine.

These mice ornaments look adorable on the tree next to my wine cork angels. They are a little larger, so having less of them was no problem.
