3 Questions to Ask Before Starting Your Blog

3 Questions to Ask Before Starting Your Blog | AMODERNCINDERELLA.COMUnfortunately, starting a blog is not as easy as the swift flick of a magic wand. It requires answering tough questions, a bit of research and a lot of mistakes.Thankfully, there are endless resources available to help you along your journey.

Even with these resources, there are three really tough questions you need to answer before you start writing your first post.

1. What is your blog about?

It’s important to pick a theme you are passionate about, that is both narrow enough that you can build your audience and rank for SEO, but also broad enough to keep that audience excited and reading.

2. Do you want to make a profit?

If there is even a chance that you might want to sell ads on your blog, it’s important that you plan for potential growth from the beginning. The type of platform you choose for your blog also plays into content ownership, and is important for you to understand.

3. What is your brand?

How does the voice, appearance and theme of your blog appear to the reader, and does it translate across social media outlets? Are you consistent in how you present your content? Does your brand match your topic?

Once you know the answers to these tough questions, it’s time to do some research. Trends, options and best practices are always changing, but a quick “How to Start a Blog” search on any search engine or Pinterest will yield a myriad of results. Just be sure to look for posts that are current.

I’ve added a few resources I found particularly helpful below, but it’s important to find the voice that speaks to you.
